The cover photograph is of the Swiss sailor Bernard Stamm shortly after the start of the Velux 5 Oceans round the world race in October 2006. Photographer Dan Towers/onEdition caught Stamm from a helicopter in a Force 10 storm in the Bay of Biscay. It is the same storm and race which featured an elderly Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, as mentioned in A Race Too Far.
